Glorious Detox

Start your day with a glass of extremely potent, tasty and rejuvenating detox-drink. 


For the past 6 years, intermittent fasting helped regulate insulin level and weight management. Unfortunately, continued issues due to age factor and vitamin deficiency seems like never ending. It was an eye opener to take care of one self, by rejecting all that your body rejects. Saints led a life in the wilderness survived on self-grown fruits and uncooked vegetables. In today's world, uncontaminated food is hard to get, so grow your own. Whether or not cleansing is your thing, this recipe will provide the necessary ailment and get rid of the toxins from your body. Children would enjoy this concoction and get full benefits of its vitamins and minerals. Don't be surprised if they thank you for such a palatable and refreshing detoxing drink.

Coming to the ingredients used, Celery being the base for this juice is little known powerhouse. It's loaded with potassium, folic acid, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus and essential amino acids. It also provides dietary fiber with low calorie weight loss diets. Get full benefits of its fibers and minerals. This vitamins rich celery contains a neutral taste and does not possess any palatable appeal. 


Apples help-regulate detoxifying enzymes and contains anti-inflammatory properties. Green apples are ideal for this drink, if unavailable, the best reds to substitute are Fuji and Gala. Granny Smiths is naturally low sugar and is great for juices. Apples just silently act as sweeter to increase the celery's palatability. 

Amla or Indian gooseberry is highly rich in Vitamin C and packed with minerals like iron and zinc. This humble fruit benefits the circulatory system, purifies blood, detoxifies the body, and strengthens the immune system. Amla can definitely keep a number of diseases at bay. 

Parsley can help stimulate bile production that can help with detoxification process. Its folic acid clears out the uric acid in joins to relieve from pain.

Ginger helps benefit with detoxification process, improves digestion with its rich antioxidants.  

Limes deserves to be in the limelight for its remarkable healing properties. They are great detox and known for weight loss, cold preventives, antibiotic properties, vitamins, minerals, alkalizing, anti-cancer etc.

 None has to be around for you, if you can take care of yourself via detoxification. It is that simple.


Ingredients:
  1. Celery - 3 stalks
  2. Apple -  2 (Green or Gala/Fuji)
  3. Amla/ Indian gooseberry - 3 
  4. Ginger root - 1 inch
  5. Parsley - few
  6. Lime juice - 2 teaspoons
  7. Ice cubes - 4-6

Directions:
  • Wash all produce thoroughly. 
  • Core the apples and cut into quarters. Deseed amlas and peel ginger root.
  • Throw all the ingredients in a blender and grind well.
  • Serve immediately to prevent discoloration.

Tips and Notes:
  • I prefer a blender for a juicer to keep all of the nutrients and fiber of the fruits and vegetables. A great way for picky eaters especially kids to intake some naturally grown fresh produce.
  • The sugar rim can be a little sweet, if you like a few lemon drops go well for a different variation.
